Highlands and Islands air runs the airport in Inverness Scotland, close to the much famed nessie filled Loch. However, what is TRUE for this body is that their costs are monsterous making Inverness a VERY expensive place to fly into or out of. This has a huge knock on effect on the economy of the Scottish highlands, including all tourism, whisky making and of course golf!

What is strange is that whilst airports in the central belt of Scotland have multiplied their business by factors of five due to cheap carriers like Ryan air (akin in mindset to US Southwest airlines), the big carriers have avoided Inverness due to high costs.
