Edinburgh City council is to attempt to limit the number of New Years Eve party goers this year by issuing free wrist ID's to those who enter the main party area around Princes St. BEFORE 8pm.

The party is so popular that major crushing similar to last years is possible.

I hope that more advanced planning for 2000 is happening now- saying no to 300000 extra Scots on that evening would be foolhardy....

Is Trafalgar square to be similar policed with wrist bands as it is equally dangerous.
