In Cologne tomorrow, the EU will announce its plans to set up what amounts to a European controlled army that will defend the EU member states and ensure stability across Europe INDEPENDENT of NATO.

This is excellent news. This will remove the heavy and sometimes unwelcome hand of US politics from European problems. Hopefully this European force will act by MAJORITY with NO country having a veto over its actions. Otherwise you can imagine London STILL bowing to U.S. pressure, making European policy ineffective.
