National express currently holds a franchise to operate a great deal of Scotlands railway system, but only the line from Glasgow to Edinburgh is VERY profitable. If the Scottish executive is not very careful, we'll see a new longer franchise being created with more ability to cut lines and services where they are not profitable, that would be bad for the economy, for the commuting public and for Scotland.
