Merger of Scottish universities shallow ploy to have control them
We all know that university funding has been heavily damaged for the past
20 years under Thatcher and Blair.
The idea that 'super campuses' in Scotland, leading to the closure of some
old universities is a good idea is preposterous.
What is the real aim? If there are but 5 or 6 big campus universities left that
means less senior academics to oppose stupidity in government interference and
fewer places for Westminster to place its pawns to ruin Scottish higher education.
We have seen the attitude Westminster has had these last years towards universities, why trust them here.
An independent Scotland would have sufficient wealth to keep the universities independent and better funded than if Westminster were allowed to continue its unwelcome
interference.
