SNP spokesman Mike Russell, Shadow Culture Minister in the Scottish Parliament, said: "The time has come for Tony Blair to finally accept that his grand plan for a Millennium Dome that would be the envy of the world has turned into a Millennium Dome that is the laughing stock of the world."
"In Scotland we have increasing waiting lists in the NHS due to chronic underfunding, thousands of pensioners living in poverty and a Labour Government that is content to squander more and more money into a discredited project that is of no interest to anyone outside London. It is time for the plug to be pulled on Blair's folly." The dome has squandered almost a billion dollars in EXTRA support, money taken from lottery cash that should have been spent on schools and hospitals.
