EU refund for London - a compromise?
Plans revealed this past weekend indicate that France will side with Tony
Blair to some degree and let London keep most of the money it now gets in
its oversized refund from the EU budget.
In return London would pay a 1.1 billion pound extra per year BEFORE the
refund would be issued.
The jingoistic , Union Jack waving loonies think this is so typically
'French', but those of us realists know that London gets to much back already.
European enlargement for the EU requires funding and the (so called) UK economy
can bear more that being the 5th largest contributor as long as it has
Scottish oil / gas/ finance backing it....
