Scottish Universities autonomy attacked by London
After the vote for a devolved parliament and after Labour swore it would protect the
Scottish University system, however, it has notgiven a firm assurance that Scottish universities
would be able to continue the superior 4 year courses that produce so much talent from
Scotland.
Such students and courses could be penalised by London as too costly and there are
those who would alter them to the more superficial 3 year honours degrees offered by English universities.
Mr Wilson (Scottish education minister) said "The requirement for a Scottish student to pay more in fees for an equivalent qualification than someone at an English University will strike the Scottish student as unfair"
