There are mixed signals coming from the SNP over what to do about university fees that were imposed by the Tories and made worse by Nu-Labour.

A leaked SNP memo says that the SNP must consider the ramifications of scrapping the fees as they would have a impact on the overall budget and retaliation from London would be swift, in so much as

"I suggest that the government will make an annual reduction to the Scottish block by the amount that tuition fees are expected to save"

The unknown author is clearly worried.
