European convention set up as fall guy
A man held awaiting trial for 22 months after being accused of sexually assaulting a
10 year girl has been set free as his case din't get to trial.
The European convention is VERY clear on detention without trial, it is WRONG
regardless of WHAT crime the person is accused of committing.
The fault is with the Scottish legal system, not with the European Convention on
Human Rights. Personally, I would have had the guy on trial within a couple of months
and if found guilty I would have handed over to the parents for whatever punishment
they saw fit.
We see the European Convention being pilloried here in a continuing effort by the
Labour party and London to keep Scotland bound to England, rather than asserting their
freedom as a member of the European community.
