No father figures for our NON nation
All sympathies to Mr Dewars closest family and friends, his style has left
a permanent mark.
Donald Dewar was an ardent believer in a vision that assumed a devolved Scotland would be a better place in which to live, whilst it continued to allow
considerable interference in Scottish affairs via 'matters reserved to Westminster'.
As a politician he was exceptional, but he was no father figure to our country.
In an argument he was passionate, but he did not always argue for what was
best for Scotland, but best for the continued UNION.
Let's NOT iconify him or elevate his stature above what he was. He helped
tow Londons line over Scottish affairs.
