Labour breaking manifesto pledges
The Labour party said in its manifesto in the 1997 election it would:
Provide nursery (pre-school) places for all 4 years by December 1998
Sign the Social Chapter and guarantee minimum wages
What Labour HAS done
It has made local councils responsible for providing these nursery places but given
no extra funding to help the councils meet LEGAL goals.
Told councils they must raise wages in line with Social Chapter (European Union) guidelines
but again has given no extra cash.
This looks like Tory policy to me and is at best a white lie. Can you trust Labour to play fair
with a Scottish parliament ? Benefit of the doubt will often bite back.
