Labour ex lord advocate says Trident IS illegal
Lord Murray, a Labour peer has said that the ruling of the Greenock Sheriff that
Trident was illegal under international law was more than likely correct.
He also added his hefty legal weight to the argument that international law
was more important than any policy decision executed by Westminster.
The key point here is not simply the legal status of Trident but the fact Scottish
courts need not take Westminsters legal position as legally binding in
Scotland at all.
Our legal system has been independent since the Treaty of Union 1707 and we are flexing
that muscle now. If Westminster doesn't like it, it had better look at other legislation it
is trying to pass that if rife will items ILLEGAL under European law, namely the
idiotic and police state-like "Interception of communications" bill .
