Lung cancer killer of Scots
It appears that if you contract lung cancer in Scotland you are basically going to die
if Scotland is the only place you can get treatment. Your survival rates are better in
Slovakia....
Whilst the London controlled Scottish Executive said it was spending £26m
in tobacco-tax money to tackle smoking and more
than £13m in a rolling programme to replace and
renew linear accelerators for radiotherapy
treatment, and investing £16m in new scanners to
ensure better, faster diagnosis a leading cancer doctor said
"It is our belief lung cancer funding will only
increase if general awareness of the disease is
raised and the present inadequacies are
challenged. This has been demonstrated by the
improvement in survival rates for breast cancer
patients".
