Donald Dewars passing was a tragedy as he was at least a pragmatist. He also believed whole heartedly in the misguided notion of perpetuating the Union between Scotland and England as the UK, under the 'Scottish parliament'. However he was no father to the Scottish nation as we ARE NOT a nation, we are a colony controlled by London, directly from Westminster or via its 'branch office' - the Scottish 'parliament'.

Helen Liddell on the other hand is a career politician, bound in mental bondage to the Union and the poisoned chalice of devolution whom the Scots have EVERY reason to be wary of. She is no mother to Scotland.
