Motorola stabs Scotland in back to save $$$$$
We all know that the cell phone bananza is coming to a close. The geeks
have their toys, the teenagers, unaware of the cancer risk are
using phone minutes in blissful ignorance. So what happens?
Cell phone manufacturers cut back.
This is understandable from a business point of view.
BUT: Lawyers at Andersen Legal have calculated that paying off the Scottish
workforce of 3000 and putting them on the dole after years of high productivity
was CHEAPER than closing a less productive plant in Germany. Motorolas bottom
line looks better, but the Scots face the storm.
This looks just the same as the Uniroyal episode to me.
