Public Safety compromised by tight fisted labour
A set of leaked reports from the Health and Safety executive (based in London)
concerning funding for their abilities to preserve and enhance public
safety in genetic engineering, nuclear and transport issues highlights how
strapped they are for cash.
On document states: "The executive's overall
judgment is that the pressures on the organisation are too great
to be absorbed within the existing baselines [budget] . . . if the
Treasury sticks to the line that no extra funds are available . . .
the commission will have to have a full discussion with
ministers about priorities."
This is how much labour cares for Scottish and English public safety. No wonder
continuing nuclear leaks, train crashes and poorly monitored agro-business genetic
crop trials are so haphazard!
