Labour and Tory alike snub democratic process for Scotland
In any civilized democracy where voted ballot result is close, a recount is
performed to ensure the will of the people has been put into practice.
However, the Tories helped block this during the passage of the
bill through the house of Lords and now Nu-Labour are backing them
up saying it would be too expensive to recount - SO DEMOCRACY IS TOO EXPENSIVE BLAIR IS IT????
Lord MacKay of Ardbrecknish, the Tories’ deputy leader in the House of Lords, said:
"I have talked to Lord Sewel [the Scottish Office minister who piloted the Scotland Bill
through the House of Lords] and to Scottish Office civil servants and they have all
agreed in principle but say it’s too complicated to do anything about it.
