Tories plan English grand committee
Sir Malcolm Rifkind, supposedly Scottish, has quite sensibly suggested that
there be a grand committee of English only MPs that will deal with
issues pertaining to Enland only, a committee the Scottish parliament
would be isolated from.
For once I find myself agreeing with a Tory. Its fair considering
the Scottish parliament will (in theory at least) deal with
Scottish issues only.
However, will this Committee have powers that Westminster can say 'non' to?
In the same way as Blair is trying to control the Scottish parliament
through legislation and blackmail.
