Tax payers buy trains for Canadian company
Does everyone remember the promise made by Thatcher and Major saying how wonderful
it would be once the channel tunnel was open? That we'd all be able to get to Europe
from Scotland and the South East of England EASILY, QUICKLY AND CHEAPLY?
Of course that was a lie. Eurostar really had no intention of servicing anywhere but SE England
and now the luxury trains for the Scottish/Welsh routes to the tunnel have been sold
for a song to a private Canadian company.
These seven sleeper trains which cost taxpayers
£109m have been sold for about
£56m.
So much for the Channel Tunnel, so much for treating tax payers with respect.
