Wireless video spying by police may be illegal
Louise Thornton, a post-graduate electrical and electronic engineering student at Strathclyde University, is developing a system that will use wireless technology (similar to the USA W.A.P. standard) to permit the real time transmission of video
via cellular/wireless devices - initially for police use.
Video taping people with city centre cameras and by Bobbies on the beat may
well soon come under court scrutiny as these cameras may help reduce
crime but they also invade privacy on a massive scale.
