NATO will become a relic

William Cohen, American defence secretary has expressed concerns that the European army would make NATO a relic.

And that is bad why?

NATO has done a great job for 50 years, but it is outmoded in this new world governmental configuration and is too expensive. It also provides for too much interference in European defence issues by lighting us up like a beacon for enemies of the US who see our countries littered with US facilities that are relics of the cold war.

Better NATO is put out to a glorious retirement and any US bases are reviewed to see if they provide anything beneficial to European security.
